Commission Awards Mid-Missouri Resurfacing Projects

JEFFERSON CITY - At their monthly meeting on Feb. 4, the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded six construction contracts to resurface mid-Missouri roadways. All work is scheduled between spring and late fall 2010 and will take place in Boone, Camden, Callaway, Cole, Cooper, Miller and Pettis counties. The work on each roadway is designed to smooth the driving surface and improve safety for area motorists.

Willard Asphalt Paving, Inc. of Lebanon, Mo. submitted the low bid of $424,006.68 to apply a thin-lift overlay on the following routes in Camden and Pulaski County:
   ·   Almost eight miles of Route 7, from north of Route T to Route A near Richland
   ·   Nearly two miles of Route 133, between Route 7 and Route A in Richland

Jefferson Asphalt Co. of Jefferson City, Mo. will resurface five routes in Callaway and Cole counties after submitting the lowest bid of $852,039.63 to apply a thin-lift overlay to the following routes:
   ·   Approximately six miles of Route C, from Meadows Ford Spur to Route CC near Jefferson City
   ·   A quarter mile of Ellis Boulevard between Route C and Christy Drive in Jefferson City
   ·   Almost two miles of Route CC, from Route C to Route 54 near Jefferson City
   ·   1.38 miles of Christy Drive in Jefferson City, from Tanner Bridge Road to the end of state maintenance
   ·   Nine miles of Route AA, from the Route 54 outer road to Route 94 near Holts Summit in Callaway County

APAC-Missouri, Inc. of Columbia, Mo. was awarded a contract to overlay portions of six routes in Boone County. The company submitted the lowest bid of $1,132,026.64 for work on the following routes:
   ·   5.7 miles of Route HH, from Route B to Route Z
   ·   4.5 miles of Route OO, from Route B in Hallsville to Route Z
   ·   2.5 miles of Interstate 70 Outer Road, from Route E to the end of state maintenance
   ·   One mile of Route ZZ, from I-70 Drive Southwest to Route TT
   ·   2.5 miles of Route KK, from Route K to the end of state maintenance
   ·   Almost nine miles of Route WW, from west of North Fork Creek in Boone County to Route J in Callaway County.

Funding for work on Route KK, ZZ and the I-70 Outer Road comes from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

N.B. West Contracting Co. of Brentwood, Mo. was awarded a contract to resurface routes in Cole, Callaway, and Pettis County. The company submitted the low bid of $1,609,379.03 for the following work:
   ·   1.5 miles of thin-lift overlay on westbound Route 50 in Cole County, from Truman Boulevard to Apache Flats
   ·   One mile of Route 765, from Route 65 to the railroad tracks in Sedalia, with sidewalk improvements included
   ·   3.5 miles of Route 54 in Callaway and Cole counties, from Route W in Callaway County to just past Stadium Boulevard in Jefferson City. Guardrail improvements are also included. Work is scheduled to begin in early spring and end in early summer 2010, with overnight work included when the contractor works in Jefferson City's tri-level area. 

Funding for the resurfacing comes from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

APAC-Missouri, Inc. submitted the low bid of $1,522,873.50 to resurface 3.4 miles of Route 87 in Cooper County, from Interstate 70 to Route B in Boonville. The existing gravel shoulders will also be paved, and sidewalks will be improved to meet Americans with Disabilities Act accessibility. Funding for the work comes from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

APAC-Missouri, Inc. also submitted the low bid of $193,874.98 to apply thin-lift overlays in Miller County:
   ·   1.3 miles of Route CC, from Salem Road to Route 52, near Eldon
   ·   Two miles of Route 87, from Salem Road to Route 54, near Eldon
Funding for the work comes from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
